Eating Out and the Nightlife in Tenerife The multinational environment results in a fantastic choice of food. Eating out is cheap and few places can offer the equivalent lifestyle at such an affordable price. One of the most significant assets Tenerife has to offer is the traditional Canarian cuisine and is an ideal place for those who can enjoy the pleasures of drinking good wines. The most savoury Canarian, Spanish and International cuisine can be enjoyed throughout Tenerife. You can't turn a corner in the main tourist areas without bumping into another restaurant. All tastes are catered for from good old British belly-buster breakfasts to fine dining at it's very best. There are German restaurants, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Moroccan, Belgian, British, French ... The list is endless. The Spanish restaurants which serve local specialties are definitely worth a visit. Try fresh sardines in a Canarian seafood restaurant. You'll be hooked and probably never again feel like scooping their squashed counterparts out of a can. Papas Arugadas - little potatoes cooked in rock salt in their skins - served with mojo verde or garlic mayonnaise is another local favourite. In general, you will find the Canarian food to be simple and tasty. Instead of a burger, why not try the local fast food like Arepas - a corn pancake, stuffed with shredded chicken, beef or cheese. Or treat yourself to a variety of tapas. We are in the process of putting together a full guide on places to eat in the South of Tenerife. This could take a while as we are currently enjoying sampling each restaurant's fine wine and delicious cuisine - we will keep you posted!
